A 1960s Gem

Drum roll, please.

This is an excellent classic clip from what appears to be a British film.  The source is not identified.

See the original at:

It is comically speeded up right at the end, but that doesn't detract too much.  If anyone can identify the source film, please post the information or email me.

The poster, Stocking Clips, true to his name, has assembled an impressive collection of stockings/lingerie segments from various films and television programs.  See the collection at:

French Cancan from "Paris C'est la Vie" by Joseph Bouglione.

A black and white film from the circus show, "Paris C'est la Vie",  by Joseph Bouglione.  I mistook this at first for something from the 1960s but discovered otherwise.

Belita

A great old television performance of the cancan by Belita (Gladys Lyne Jepson-Turner) a British skater, actress, swimmer and ballet dancer.  You can see the balletic approach in her performance.

This is from a You Tube video posted by swan2612:

1930's Italian Newreels

I found some Italian newsreel archives on You Tube that contain interesting historical cancan footage from the 1930's. They aren't spectacular, but I think you'll find them interesting with some nice classic costuming.

The one called "Il Can Can"  is from "La Boutique Fantasque".   Would a ballet troupe today costume this ballet with garter belts and stockings?  I doubt it.

The second one appears to be from a music hall and purports to be from Paris, but I couldn't discern where it was filmed. It looks more like a huge movie soundstage, but since it is a newsreel, I assume it was an actual place in Paris. I recognize the music as being the same as part of the music in "French Cancan", but I don't know what it is.

The fourth one says it is from Moulin de la Galette.

Del Can Can al Mambo

Another classic of the Mexican screen featuring the Cuban actress Rosita Fornes. Originally posted at You Tube by Tony Pisani:

Video Added

I added a video I had downloaded from You Tube (or actually Kick You Tube since it was in MP4 format).  It's a personal favorite and in my book a classic.  By the way, the video is available on DVD if you look around on the Web.  It has a somewhat longer sequence and the resolution is much better.
