Lady for a Night
A really royal flash from the film, "Lady for a Night". In my opinion this is one of the better cancans from 1940's era Hollywood films, but you don't hear much about it. If you haven't seen it, you should.
This photo is currently offered on EBay by Jay Parrino's The Mint. This auction can be found at:

The Mint's other offerings, which include a number of other cancan photos, mostly from Hollywood films, can be seen and searched at:

Bal Tabarin - 1920's
Bal Tabarin dancers of the 1920's pose for the camera showing off their black silk stockings and a hint of panties. I'm sorry about the "gsamuel" watermark - that's how it came.
This is from the French Del Campe online auction house. Their url appears just below the photo. It is a good sopurce for cancan memorabilia, including this photo.
"Follow by email" feature
There is a "Follow by email" feature at the bottom of the page that will allow you to receive copies of the postings at this blog at any email address you specify.
You might find it useful as a way to know when new postings have been made.

FYI - If you are having trouble logging in
I notice that a number of the members (authors) are shown as having joined under gmail ID's.
When I signed up under my barbebleu2012 identity, for reasons unknown to me, it switched my ID to a gmail ID - the same name (barbebleu2012), but with a gmail.com suffix instead of a yahoo.com suffix.
I couldn't log in using the yahoo ID, and I didn't know that the switch had been made. It took me several days to figure out what had happened.
If you are not able to log in from the non-gmail ID you thought you signed up under, then try to do so using a gmail ID - your same email name, but followed by gmail.com.
I hope this helps.

Folk Dance?
The costume looks a little Ruritanian, but that's just a guess. If you can read the fine print, let me know. I have lost the provenence of this photo, so I can't identify the dancer or the venue. I'm not sure what's going on with the bands around her calves either - maybe they are marks made on the photo.

Vicki Campbell Can Can-Can
From the Spic and Span section of the Vintage Stockings Archive, courtesy of Nostalgia Publications:
http://vintagestockingsarchive.com/
This site has zillions of girlie photos from the 1950's, and even earlier, through the 1970's - it's an amazing collection. But, be warned, there is lots of nudity and explicit sexual material there, if you would prefer not to go there.

Home Style
A little home brew from the 1950's from Spic or Span or Beautiful Britons, I'm not sure which.
I've done some editing on the photo to crop it to focus on the girl and improve the contrast. The original, which oddly has the girl perched on a chair with grandma looking on approvingly and the electric fan doing its job, appears just below it. I believe this came from the Spic and Span section of the Vintage Stockings Archive, courtesy of Nostalgia Publications:

Romance de Medio Siglo (Romance of Half a Century)
This Chilean film is from 1944 and features a very nice classic cancan despite appearances from the screen shot above. (If there is a way to change them, I haven't figured it out yet.)
It was originally posted at You Tube by ferrer1650 at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epKDOX5UJks
The description given was:

Rediscovered
I found these forgotten photos on my hard drive in a folder named, "goater".
Many thanks to goater for these great shots, at least two of which are definitely classic era photos.
Perhaps someone can translate and identify the club where these were taken from the caption on the second photo.
I'll add them to the 2012 Additions Album.

Welcome Message
Welcome to the new Classic Cancan Group at Blogger/Blogspot. This is a continuation of the Multiply group of the same name. That site is going dark on December 1 due to a decision by Multiply to discontinue its blogs and groups.
We encourage everyone who was a member of the Multiply Classic Cancan Group to become a member (Author) here too, so that you can fully participate in the site.
The Group is set up as a public group. That means anyone can see it by typing in the URL. However, to post or comment you need to be added as an Author. That has to be done by invitation, and there isn't a feature on the Blog for you to ask to be added as a Author. Unfortunately, Multiply doesn't seem to allow mass mailings of invitations to members of the old group and doesn't give email addresses from which the invitations can be generated. However, if you are a member of Cancan Favorites or one of the other Yahoo cancan groups (and if you did not hide your email address there), you have already received an invitation to join the new Club CCD. If you responded to that you will also receive an invitation to join this group. Otherwise, to join the new group and post, you will need to send an email to Barbebleu's email address at Yahoo (barbebleu2006). You will then receive an invitation by email (check your spam/junk folder if you dodn't see it your inblox). Follow the instructions in the invitation to join. You will have to register with Google (which owns Blogger) to do so, but many of you are probably already registered with them.
We have tried to preserve the features of the Multiply group, but the format is very different. The main page is a blog with consecutive entries. The blog posts can have photos or videos in them, but that would not be convenient from the standpoint of accessing all the photos, videos or other features. To accommodate that we have set up the Pages listed on the right hand side of the Blog. Clicking on the links for them will take you to pages for the subjects listed.
Only administrators will be able to edit or add to those pages and the related albums, but we will try to copy over to the albums the photos and videos that are posted in messages.
We are still learning about Blogger and tweaking the site, so there will likely be some changes. For example, there has not been sufficient time to copy over the descriptions of the pictures. Also, we used the migration tool that Multiply provided. Most of the postings appear to have come over alright, but it is possible that some of them did not make it here. We will try to do some cleanup here as time permits.
We'll look forward to your participation
