Ballet Russe: Waltz from Gaîté Parisienne (Maria Tallchief & Frederic Franklin)

Billed as a waltz, this performance includes enough cancanesque elements to make it a nice watch, inluding the coda at the end.

Le Bresilien

A photo of Dario Moreno, who had a lock on the role of Le Brésilien in La Vie Parisienne for many years, cavorting with his cancan girls.

This is from tips, an Italian images site, which has many period photos for sale.

You can find tips at:

http://tipsimages.it/

This photo and a few more of Mr. Moreno mugging for the camera and even dancing with Brigette Bardot are at:

http://tipsimages.it/Search/Search_Editorial.asp?imid=1039274&or_h=h&or_v=v&or_s=s&or_p=p&tp_f=f&tp_i=i&tp_c=c&ps_1=1&ps_2=2&ps_3=3&ps_g=g&foid=44&cl_c=c&cl_bw=bw&ched=ed&LAID=2&SRCV=Dario&IMTP=5&

A search will bring up more cancan photos.

You can see and hear Mr. Moreno in action in this role, unfortunately sans cancan girls, at:

La Vie Parisienne (1936) - Links

A "new" film with a cancan.  The video quality is bad and the original editing mars the production, but there are a few nice scenes in it.  One is reminiscent of "L'Atlantide"

Gaite Parisienne

A couple of photos from Gaite Parisienne.  These were scanned by someone from David Price's book, "Cancan!" and  posted on the Web, where I found them.  They are from theVictoria and Albert Museum’s theatre archive.

Information about David's book, which is an essential source for anyone interested in the cancan (as well as a great read), can be found at:
