Young Yva Richard?

Two more from the classic hoop skirt series.  I think this is from the studio of Yva Richard, and the model may be the young Ms. Richard.

More about Yva Richard:

"Although we associate the name Yva Richard as a person, this was, in fact, a firm. The name is derived from the husband wife team, L. Richard and his wife, Nativa (NatYVA) or YVA RICHARD. The couple operated a successful business from the period of 1913-1939, using different photographers and artists to represent the models, selling prints and primarily marketing erotic lingerie for a mail distribution catalog of fetish lingerie. The couple took great pains in displaying a level of respectability with their brochures, mainly by listing the names and occupations of the models. As the bondage market became "the vogue", Yva Richard's publicity featured fetishistic accessories and s/m accouterments, including leather corsets, kid gloves, handcuffs, dog collars with leashes, and bondage gear using his wife, Nativa as the model."

Hoop Cat

A contemporary photo.  I'm not sure just what's going on here, but I thought it was an interesting photo.  It is captioned Hoop Cat by HellsBelles.  I have lost the original link.

Paris Plaisirs

From the French magazine "Paris Plaisirs" comes this set of photos of two 1930s models doing a hoop skirt and topless cancan.

The Merriest Widow

The rubber-faced comedienne of early television, Imogene Coca, hams it up in this 1956 spoof.   There is a brief flash at about 3:08 but the fun begins when she tries to maneuver around the set in a hoop skirt at 11:00.

I remember this or something like it involving Ms. Coca from watching live TV in the 50's.

Holiday on Ice - 1958

Iris Waller of Holiday on Ice demonstrates the structural integrity of one of the hoop-skirted costumes for the 1958 Boxing Day show at Wembley Stadium in this cancanesque pose.  This photo is available from Historic Images on EBay:

Dinah Shore vs. the Hoop Skirt

Dinah Shore in a couple of cancanesque cheesecake photos presumably taken during the 1940s, when she was still more of a starlet than a star.

You can see the originals of these and another photo from the same shoot at the Pettipond:
